ABSTRACT
In order to ensure the stability of a rubble-mound structure, it is important to ensure the stability of the crown wall installed on top of the structure. However, a method for estimating horizontal wave pressure acting on the crown wall has not been clearly established in Korea. In this study, a two-dimensional physical model test was conducted to measure the horizontal wave force acting on crown wall of rubble-mound structure. Model tests were performed for measuring the wave force under various wave condition and freeboard under irregular wave conditions. Horizontal wave force was measured on the protected and unprotected parts of crown wall. The horizontal wave force acting on the unprotected part was measured to be greater than that on the protected part. An empirical formula was proposed to estimate the horizontal wave pressure acting on the crown wall of rubble-mound structure using the experimental results under irregular wave conditions.
